Who We Are
At Operation Correct Start, we are a community-centered violence prevention organization committed to empowering young Black boys to lead lives free from violence, fear, and adversity. We believe in the inherent strength, potential, and brilliance of every Black boy, and our mission is to provide the tools, resources, and support necessary for them to thrive in a world that too often overlooks or misunderstands their experiences.
We focus on building resilience, emotional intelligence, and leadership skills, while addressing the unique challenges faced by Black boys in our society. Through mentorship, education, and advocacy, we work to create safe spaces where young boys can express themselves, learn conflict resolution, and make positive life choices.
Our programs aim to break the cycles of violence, systemic oppression, and trauma, replacing them with hope, opportunity, and unity. We are not just an organization; we are a movement for healing, growth, and a brighter future for our young men.

What We Do

Finding and funding programs for Black boys focused on violence prevention is a critical step toward breaking the cycles of trauma and adversity they often face.

Building strong, supportive networks for Black boys is an essential component of effective violence prevention. These networks provide safe spaces where young men can connect with peers, mentors, and community leaders who understand their unique experiences and challenges.

Educating Black boys is a powerful and transformative tool in combating violence and promoting long-term prevention. By providing access to quality education that goes beyond traditional academics, we can equip young Black boys with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the challenges they face in a society that often marginalizes them.
